AKSG SEALS DEAL WITH PRIVATE DEVELOPERS ON 1,600-BED HOSTEL IN AKSU
Akwa Ibom State University, AKSU, is set to become a residential tertiary institution, 15 years after it was established.
This follows a partnership agreement between Akwa Ibom State government and Africa Plus Partners Nigeria Limited (APPNL) for the development of a 1,600-bed hostel at Ikot Akpaden campus of the Akwa Ibom State university.
Africa Plus partner’s Nigeria Limited (APPNL) is an infrastructure fund manager Licensed and accredited by the Nigerian Security and exchange commission for the development of students housing schemes.
In her remarks, the Commissioner for Education, Mrs Idongesit Etiebet shortly after jointly signing the contract with the Vice Chancellor of AKSU, Professor Nse Essien in Uyo today, commended Governor Umo Eno for his dedication to the State’s educational sector. She added that the investment would have positive impact on the students.
Similarly, the Vice Chancellor of AKSU, Prof. Nse Essien expressed delight at the development, anticipating that the completion of the project will promote ease and increase the institution’s population, resolving the previous lack of accommodation and providing a conducive environment for students.
On his part, the Head of Deal Origination and Investment at Africa Plus Partners Nigeria Limited, Mr Dipo Lawore, who took time to extol Governor Umo’s strides in educational advancement, assured that the development of the 1600-bed space student hostels for AKSU would be completed within 12 months.
