Speculations As Peter Obi Visits Atiku In Abuja

Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, visited Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in Abuja on May 13, 2024. The visit marked a reunion between the two opposition figures following their participation in the 2019 elections.

According to reports, Obi met with Atiku at his residence in Abuja for a private discussion. The meeting came amidst speculations of a potential alliance or collaboration between the two opposition leaders ahead of the 2027 elections. Some political observers suggested that Atiku could be considering Obi as a running mate or supporting him in some capacity.

The visit was welcomed by many Nigerians who saw it as a positive development for the opposition bloc’s unity and strength against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Some social media users even went as far as expressing their support for Obi and calling on him to run for president again in 2027.

However, others were skeptical about the motives behind the visit and warned against any potential betrayals or power plays within the opposition ranks. There have been rumors of internal crises within both the Labour Party and PDP, with some key figures reportedly planning to defect or align with rival factions.

Despite these concerns, many Nigerians expressed hope that this reunion could lead to a more united opposition front and ultimately help dislodge the APC from power in future elections. Some even suggested that Atiku could play a fatherly role in guiding Obi’s political career and helping him win over more support from various regions of Nigeria.
