The 2024 Ibom championship tourney, known as the “Ibom 2024 Open,” has attracted no fewer than 172 players from various parts of Nigeria. The tournament is taking place at the Ibom golf course in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. Participants include former governors, deputy governors, senators, and captains of industries who will compete for prizes across different categories such as 0-9, 10-15, 16-22, 23-26, veterans, super veterans, and ladies.
The event was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic but has now been revived with sponsors like Urban/kraft, Ship Africa, Joyfame Integrated Ltd, Equitorial Park, Papi Printing, Pepsi, and Ibom Hotel supporting the tournament. The captain of the Ibom Golf and Country Resort highlighted that the facility is one of the best in West Africa for hosting such events.
The tournament promises an exciting lineup of activities including a jamming festival on Sunday following the golf games on Saturday. Notable personalities like former governors from states such as Kogi, Cross River, and Kano are participating in this highly anticipated event. The competition was oversubscribed within a week of opening registration due to its popularity among golfers.
