Rangers fined N5m after matchday

Reasons Rangers International FC was fined N5m after the matchday:

Rangers International FC was fined a total of N5 million by the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for multiple infractions during their Match Day 35 fixture against Enyimba International FC. The fines were imposed due to the following reasons:

  1. Violation of Rule B15.24: Rangers over-ticketed the match, leading to overcrowding at the stadium, which breached Rule B15.24. This violation alone drew a fine of N2 million.
  2. Failure to provide adequate security measures: The club was cited for failing to provide effective security measures, contravening Rule B13.52, resulting in a fine of N1 million.
  3. Lack of crowd control measures: Rangers failed to implement adequate crowd control measures as per Rule B13.52.1, leading to an additional fine of N1 million.
  4. Unauthorized access to restricted areas: The club breached Rule B13.52 by failing to prevent unauthorized persons from gaining access to restricted areas, resulting in a further fine of N1 million.

These cumulative breaches led to the NPFL imposing a total fine of N5 million on Rangers International FC for their actions during the match against Enyimba International FC.

In addition to the financial penalties, the league has ordered Rangers to implement more effective crowd control mechanisms in subsequent home games and has given them 48 hours to either accept the sanctions or choose to be dealt with by a disciplinary panel.
