Three to die by hanging for robbing car owner in Ekiti

There are three different cases of armed robbery and conspiracy that resulted in sentencing the convicts to death by hanging in Ekiti State High Court.

Case 1: Akingbade David, Michael Mayowa, and Ibrahim Mukaila

Akingbade David, Michael Mayowa, and Ibrahim Mukaila were sentenced to death by hanging by Ekiti State High Court for robbing Gbenga Ajayi of his Toyota Corolla car at gunpoint on March 1, 2019, at NTA Road, Ado Ekiti. They were charged with armed robbery and conspiracy, which are contrary to Section 6(b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap.R11, Vol.14, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

Case 2: Omotayo Deji, Chidiebere Ifeanyi, and Bolaji Usman

Omotayo Deji, Chidiebere Ifeanyi, and Bolaji Usman were sentenced to death by hanging by Ekiti State High Court for conspiring and robbing their victims of their belongings, such as phones, laptop computers, sandals, phone chargers and power banks valued at N186,000 on May 6, 2019, at Aba Erinfun, Federal Polytechnic Road, Ado Ekiti. They were charged with conspiracy and armed robbery, which are contrary to Sections 6(b) and 1(2)(a) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap. RII, Vol. 14, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

Case 3: Babalola Bidemi, Akinwale Oluwaseun, Oyebanji Sola, Jimoh Azeez, and Ogunlade Babatunde

Babalola Bidemi, Akinwale Oluwaseun, Oyebanji Sola, Jimoh Azeez, and Ogunlade Babatunde were sentenced to death by hanging by Ekiti State High Court for conspiring to commit armed robbery and robbing Tijani Omowumi and Ogunrinde Olumide of their phones, plasma television, wrist watch, necklace, shirts, trousers, shuttle bag, a cash sum of N5, 000 among others on March 10, 2018, at Oke Oniyo Street, Ado Ekiti. They were charged with conspiracy, armed robbery, receiving stolen properties and membership of secret cult, which are contrary to sections 6 (b), 1(2) (a) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap.RII, Vol. 14, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 and Section 4 (1) of the Secret Cults (Abolition and Prohibition) ( First Amendment) Law, No. 6 of 2017.
