Endwell Awunze Ejindu, a former SUG President of Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, was shot dead by suspected cultists in Ahoada, Rivers State. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, around 7pm, along Ula-Upata Road.
Ejindu was reportedly ambushed after leaving a protest at the Ahoada East Council Secretariat. He was known for his opposition to cultist activities and the tenure elongation of local government chairpersons.
The Rivers State Police Command confirmed the killing but stated that information available to them did not indicate that Ejindu participated in the protest.
