Atiku visits Buhari in Daura
Atiku Abubakar is a Nigerian politician who served as the Vice President of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007, under the presidency of Olusegun Obasanjo. He is currently the Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 presidential election.
Muhammadu Buhari, on the other hand, is a former military head of state and a Nigerian politician who served as the President of Nigeria from 2015 to 2023. Before his presidency, Buhari was a prominent figure in Nigerian politics and had previously contested in several presidential elections.
Atiku Abubakar and Muhammadu Buhari have a history of political rivalry, despite both being members of the same political party, the All Progressive Congress (APC), during Buhari’s presidency. However, recent developments have shown that Atiku visited Buhari at his residence in Daura, Katsina state, on June 22, 2024, sparking speculations about their current relationship.
It is worth noting that Atiku Abubakar has been visiting several prominent Nigerian politicians, including former Military President Ibrahim Babangida and ex-Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar in Niger state, just days before his visit to Buhari’s residence. These visits have fueled further speculations about a possible political alliance or merger between different political parties ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
