Breaking: Nigerian senator bags 2 years prison sentence

A Nigerian ‘senator,” who had been arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has finally be jailed today.

Tom Makwe, internet fraudster, who posed as a senator from Nigeria, defrauded a Spanish victim of euros worth over N30 million and $1,300.

Delivering judgement in Abuja today, Justice Aliyu Shafa of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Gwagwalada, Abuja, sentenced Makwe to prison after he pleaded guilty to the two-count charges by EFCC.

The ruling included that the euros and dollars recoverd from the ‘Nigerian senator ‘ be returned to the victim, Maria Del Rosario San Jose Garces through Spanish embassy in Nigeria.

According to Daily Post, other items – black Camry 2017 model car, Samsung S 23, Apple iPhone 13 cellphone, and HP EliteBook – recovered from the convict should be sold and the proceed forfeited to the government.

Meanwhile, Makwe had pleaded for leniency, telling the court how sorry how was.

“I am a changed person and plead with the court to tamper justice with mercy. I will never have anything to do with internet fraud again,” he pleaded.
